The City of Toronto’s Fire Services and the Toronto Raptors will make an announcement on Monday. Fire Chief Matthew Pegg along with Raptors player OG Anunoby and assistant coach, alumni and community ambassador Jamaal Magloire will talk about a joint initiative aimed at eliminating deaths in Toronto from fires and carbon-monoxide poisoning.

This advertising and public education campaign by Toronto Fire Services and the Raptors will urge people to “Install, test and maintain your smoke alarms. And make a fast break. Always have a fire escape plan. Learn how to keep your home safe from fire at Toronto.ca/FireSafety.”

For the launch of this campaign, Kidde Canada will be on site to donate 5,000 smoke alarms and 700 carbon monoxide alarms, all with 10-year, hassle-free batteries. Toronto Fire Services will give the alarms to the Daily Bread Food Bank to include in its holiday drive food baskets.
