Online Inspection Requests allow Sign/Building Permit holders to request, cancel or re-schedule an inspection. Inspections are carried out Monday to Friday during regular business hours.

Whenever a Sign Permit is issued, one or more inspections will follow. Your Inspector will be listed on the Sign Permit, and you can contact them to arrange for a footings/foundation inspection for ground signs, and a final inspection for all signs once the installation has been completed.

Express Services Inspectors also carry out pro-active inspections to ensure that signs in Toronto comply with the Sign By-law and Ontario Building Code, and do not present any health or safety concerns.

Installer’s Reports

Prior to an inspector being able to close your sign permit you must provide the inspector with an Installer’s Report. This Installer’s Report must include the following information:

  1. Property Address sign was installed on
  2. Permit Number
  3. Name of the sign installer
  4. Date the Sign was installed
  5. Contact information of the sign installer (phone number & email)
  6. Statement by the sign installer confirming that the installation has been carried out in conformance with the issued permit plans
  7. Signature of the installer
  8. Date the installer signed the report
