Here are all of the items that are accepted at the City’s Drop-Off Depots. Please check which items are accepted at each location.

  • Household Hazardous Waste drop off is free of charge.
  • Please note the following limits on the amount of HHW items that can be dropped off per day:
    • A maximum of 50 litres or 50 kilograms in total
    • Any container exceeding 20 litres in volume
    • 20 fluorescent tubes
    • 100 compact flourescent lamps (CFLs)
    • 5 gas tanks (e.g. propane/barbeque, helium)

  • Baseboards
  • Bathtubs
  • Cabinets
  • Countertops
  • Doors
  • Drywall (1 tonne maximum, only accepted at Bermondsey, Ingram, and Commissioners Drop-Off Depots)
  • Fencing
  • Insulation
  • Lumber (4 feet maximum)
  • Plaster
  • Pressure treated wood
  • Roof shingles
  • Siding
  • Tiles

Note: Remove nails, screws, metal corner beads, ceramics, wood etc.

Fees apply to dropping off renovation waste.

The following items are not accepted at Drop-Off Depots:

  • Ammunition
  • Asbestos
  • Asphalt
  • Boats
  • Bricks
  • Cinder blocks
  • Concrete
  • Dead animals
  • Gravel
  • Paving stones
  • Rocks
  • Sod and grass clippings
  • Soil and sand
  • Stones

City of Toronto residents can drop off up to 10 passenger and light truck tires per day on or off rim free of charge at one of the following Drop-Off Depots:

  • Bermondsey Transfer Station – 188 Bermondsey Road, Toronto
  • Commissioner Transfer Station – 400 Commissioners Street, Toronto
  • Ingram Transfer Station – 50 Ingram Drive, North York
  • Dufferin Transfer Station – 35 Vanley Crescent, North York

Only passenger and light truck tires will be accepted. All other tire types will not be accepted.

  • Drop-Off Depots will not accept any pieces that exceed 7.5 centimetres (three inches) in diameter or 1.2 metres (4 feet) in length, with the exception of Christmas trees.
  • Soil and grass are not accepted at any location.
  • Fees apply to quantities weighing 20 kg or more.

  • Mixed loads of garbage and recycling will be denied entry
  • Recycling is restricted to 1 tonne

  • Auto parts and bicycles
  • Lawnmowers
  • Large/small appliance
