City Council at its August 1-3, 2000 meeting approved requirements for new developments and redevelopments. These requirements must be adhered to in order to receive City collection services.

Waste Diversion Task Force 2010Established in January 2001, the Waste Diversion Task Force 2010, comprised of all Toronto City Councillors, is charged with finding a 'made in Toronto' solution for waste diversion from landfill. The goal of Task Force 2010 is 30 per cent diversion by 2003 (achieved 32%), 60 per cent by 2006 and 100 per cent by 2010. More...

New and Emerging Technologies, Policies and Practices Advisory Group
New and Emerging Technologies In 2002, City Council authorized Works Committee to established a joint Citizens and Expert group to review and provide advice on the adoption of new and emerging technologies, policies and practices. The group consisted of seven citizens, four experts and five official observers and was established in February 2002. The group met over 22 months and passed 30 recommendations and resolutions. The two reports represent their completed work.
