News Release
November 6, 2021

Residents eligible for third doses of COVID-19 vaccines are now able to book their appointment at City-run clinics as of 8 a.m. today. Approximately 40,000 vaccine appointments are available in the provincial booking system for City-operated clinics over the next two weeks. Appointments can be booked by visiting City of Toronto COVID-19 or by calling the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900. Additional appointments will be opened up in future weeks.

Health care workers can receive their COVID-19 vaccine through their affiliated hospital. In addition to City-run clinics, Toronto residents can receive their COVID-19 vaccine through one of more than 450 local pharmacies that are offering this vaccine, at many doctor’s offices and at other health care partner clinics.

Populations at highest risk of waning protection and severe COVID-19 illness are being offered a booster dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after completing their primary series. Many individuals who received a two-dose series of a viral vector COVID-19 vaccine (e.g. AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD), healthcare workers, individuals who are 70 years of age and older or immunocompromised, and First Nations, Inuit and Metis are now eligible for a third dose. The full third dose eligibility list is available on the provincial website. COVID-19 Vaccine Third Dose Recommendations

To protect our families, communities, and young children not yet eligible for vaccination, everyone must do their part and get vaccinated. Residents who have not yet started their vaccination or completed their primary series are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Vaccination appointments generally take less than 30 minutes from start to finish. City-run clinics are easily accessible by transit and offer free parking on-site. Clinic staff are also able to provide resources in multiple languages. A person with a vaccination appointment can also bring a support person to help with translation. More information on City-operated immunization clinic transportation options and on-site amenities is available on the City’s COVID-19: How to Get Vaccinated webpage

Quotes:
“We are opening up 40,000 appointments this morning to help eligible residents get their third doses. Thank you to everyone on Team Toronto working to deliver third doses and on the continuing effort to administer first and second vaccine doses to people. I continue to encourage all residents to get vaccinated so that they are protected and so we can protect the progress we have made fighting COVID-19.”
– Mayor John Tory

“Two doses of COVID-19 vaccine provide good protection against contracting the virus, and excellent protection against severe outcomes. A third dose of COVID-19 vaccine is now recommended for certain populations to obtain more durable protection. If you are eligible for a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine, I encourage you to book an appointment at one of our vaccination clinics, or through the channel most convenient to you.”
– Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health
