Fees, Set Out & Bins for Apartments Above Businesses

The 2026 interim fees outlined below were approved by City Council on December 16, 17, and 18, 2025. The interim fees are effective January 1, 2026.

Garbage Tags can be purchased online or at Toronto Canadian Tire stores.

* Bag-only rates are only available to locations with special approval from the City. Bag-only customers are also required to buy Garbage Tags for each bag they set out.

This is an approved fee providing for the collection of oversized and metal items per single family home and for each multi-residential unit per property location, regardless of whether the service is used.

Bag Program Bin Program
  • Garbage - Use a regular size garbage bag affixed with a Garbage Tag.Garbage Tags must be purchased separately online or at Toronto Canadian Tire stores.
    • Garbage - All garbage must fit in the City-issued garbage bin with the lid closed or properly set out as excess garbage.

      Bag/bin placement

      Bags and bins should be set out:

      • as close to the street as possible and free of obstructions
      • clearly visible and accessible
      • away from snow banks.

      Set out time

      • Daytime collection: Place items out before 7 a.m. and no earlier than 8 p.m. the night before.
      • Nighttime collection: Place items out between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
