Security Guards

City of Toronto Security Guards are responsible for protecting people as well as City assets and facilities.  

Highlighted responsibilities include: 

  • Responding and effectively handling emergency and non-emergency, security and law enforcement calls 
  • Monitoring and patrolling assigned areas 
  • Responding to public inquiries and representing the City of Toronto in a positive manner 
  • Conducting security audits  

Control Centre Operators

City of Toronto Control Centre Operators monitor security systems and respond to calls. They act as a first point of contact for the public and security staff. 

Highlighted responsibilities include: 

  • Providing first-line direction to in-house security staff 
  • Monitoring facilities through remote systems 
  • Handling emergency and non-emergency calls to security lines 
  • Dispatching and providing real-time guidance to mobile patrol security guards 

Senior Security Co-ordinator

Reporting to various Supervisors of Building Security, the Senior Security Coordinator provides and maintains a high level of security and life safety services to City employees and members of the public visiting City facilities.

Highlighted responsibilities include:

  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
  • Represents Corporate Security to City divisions and acts as the security divisional contact for day to day security operations, investigations and emergency situations.
  • Provides security services to City owned and operated properties through various security systems and supervision of in-house staff and contracted firms.
  • Provides project management services related to planned and on-demand security system installation and maintenance to ensure all standards, contracts and obligations are fulfilled.
  • Develops and implements Divisional Security Plans.
  • Maintains a high level of functional knowledge of technical information to provide all aspects of modern corporate security and protection for large and small building complexes and special events.
