The City of Toronto has a approved a request from the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians to raise the Palestinian flag at City Hall under its Council-approved flag raising program.

The flag will be displayed on the courtesy flagpole at Toronto City Hall on Monday, November 17. 2025, to mark Palestine's Independence day (observed later due to prior booking on November 15).

Under the City's flag policy, flags of nations recognized by Global Affairs Canada may be flown on their national days or special anniversaries. Since Canada officially recognized the State of Palestine on September 21, 2025, the request now qualifies. The flag will be taken down at the end of the day.

Nathan Phillips Square is open to the public, though guest for the ceremony are invited by the organizers.
