Support the leadership and strategic direction for Solid Waste Management Services. The General Manager’s Office works closely with City leaders, stakeholders and divisional teams to advance priorities, support workforce planning and help ensure programs and services are delivered effectively according to bylaws and Council directives.
Help manage budgets, finances, purchasing, contracts and technology. The team oversees financial planning and reporting, procurement and contract management, strategic planning, continuous improving and provides IT support, including maintaining and delivering internal applications and other technology projects.
Deliver collections services that residents rely on every day. Collections & Litter Operations provides safe, efficient and reliable collection of garbage, recycling, organics, yard waste and other materials across the city.
Example positions:
Help manage the facilities, equipment and resources that support Toronto’s waste management system. This team oversees major infrastructure projects, fleet and bin assets, materials processing contracts and resource recovery programs that keep essential services running effectively.
Help shape the future of waste management in Toronto. The team develops policies and programs; advises on regulations, legislation, statutes and policies; supports corporate and divisional strategic priorities; conducts research and analysis and engages with residents, community partners and stakeholders to support waste reduction and environmental sustainability.
Help manage and maintain the City’s network of seven transfer stations, six household hazardous waste depots, haulage logistics and roll-off services, Green Lane Landfill and closed landfill sites.
