Toronto Regional Champion Campaign Protégée Program to help increase women's presence in local politics

Toronto's 15 women councillors are launching the 2012 Toronto Regional Champion Campaign in efforts to increase women’s participation in municipal government. To address the lack of women in politics, Toronto’s women councillors will coach 30 young women from diverse

 
       

  communities about the job of a municipal     councillor.

Over a year long period, Councillors Lindsay Luby, Augimeri, Nunziata, Doucette, Stintz, Bailão, Robinson, Wong-Tam, McConnell, Fragedakis, Fletcher, Davis, McMahon, Carroll and Berardinetti will help two protégées each to become familiar with the job of a municipal councillor and provide them with hands on experience.
