Toronto Fire Services is working with First Alert as part of an ongoing commitment to ensure all residents of Toronto have the required smoke alarms needed to stay safe.
First Alert has donated 100 smoke alarms that will be distributed in an east end Toronto community. The Toronto Professional Firefighter’s Association has matched this gift with the donation of another 100 smoke alarms. Ensuring Toronto residents have working smoke alarms year-round is more important than ever as residents are spending more time indoors due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Councillor Brad Bradford (Beaches-East York) will ensure that these alarms are given to the households most in need.
Toronto Fire Services would like to remind the public to install smoke alarms if they do not yet have them installed, test them regularly, change the batteries twice a year and prepare and practice a home escape plan in case of fire.
