Today, all those 18 years and older who had their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine more than three months ago, became eligible for a third dose, or booster, vaccine. Over the weekend, Mayor John Tory announced the City of Toronto and its Team Toronto partners have ramped up vaccination capacity to 1.2 million doses per month in anticipation of those seeking further protection from the Omicron variant of concern.
Toronto Public Health (TPH) estimates that more than 1 million people in Toronto become eligible to get their booster today.

Over the last week, Team Toronto’s total capacity to administer vaccinations has gone from 400,000 doses per month to more than 1.2 million doses per month. The City continues to work with TPH and all health care partners and the Government of Ontario to further ramp up booster dose capacity.
The City and the Province are working together on options that would increase capacity including encouraging more pharmacies to come on board to administer vaccinations, more doctors to sign up to offer vaccines, and more retired employees with experience administering vaccines to help clinics.
Given the threat posed by the Omicron variant, there is a critical need for all eligible Toronto residents to get their first, second and third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. There are a growing number of Team Toronto vaccine clinics operating across the city for children age five to 11 to get their first dose, and for those 12 and older to get their first, second or third dose (when eligible). Today, Team Toronto partners will administer thousands of vaccines at City-run clinics, hospital partner clinics, local pharmacies and doctors’ offices, including the following clinic locations:
City-run immunization clinics
The five City-run immunization clinics are fully booked today and will continue to expand appointments for first, second and third doses of COVID-19 vaccine. From December 21 to February 19, 2022, there are more than 100,000 appointments available for both kids aged five to 11 and adults. For kids aged five to 11 there are 22,208 appointments available, and there are 84,293 adult appointments available. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre clinic has moved to Rooms 105, 106 and 107. Clients with no mobility issues should now enter the building from The John W.H Bassett Theatre Entrance on Front Street (east side of Second Cup). Clients with mobility issues can enter the building from the Front Street entrance to the west side of Second Cup and follow signage to the elevator that will take them to level 100. Clinic signage has been adjusted to reflect the room change.

Given the emergence of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant (B.1.617.2) and ongoing community transmission of the Delta variant, Toronto Public Health urges all eligible residents to book their third-dose appointment to ensure they have an extra layer of protection. Residents who have not yet received their first or second COVID-19 vaccine shot are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. COVID-19 vaccines lower the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death, while protecting oneself, loved ones and the community.
Residents should also continue to follow public health measures such as mask wearing, good hand hygiene and physical distancing.
