News Release
June 26, 2021

A record number of people will be vaccinated in Toronto this weekend, thanks to the combined efforts the City of Toronto and an expanded group of partners. Team Toronto vaccination clinics — which continue to be held across the city — will be bolstered by a mass immunization clinic at Scotiabank Arena as part of Toronto Vaccine Day on Sunday.

The City of Toronto and Toronto Vaccine Day clinic partners Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and Scotiabank have teamed up with Michael Garron Hospital and University Health Network to hold the “Our Winning Shot” clinic that will provide vaccines to 25,000 people.

Team Toronto continues to see strong demand for second doses as eligibility expands, and residents are urged to get their second dose as soon as possible to ensure they are fully vaccinated — and even though the Scotiabank Arena clinic is fully booked there may be appointments available if there are cancellations. Anyone looking for an appointment is asked to check the provincial vaccine booking system.

As it has been doing since the rollout of the first clinics, the City continues to work non-stop with its healthcare partners, pharmacies and Toronto Public Health to administer all available COVID-19 vaccines.

To date, 3,205,467 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Toronto as part of the overall Team Toronto initiative. As of yesterday evening, approximately 794,086 people have booked COVID-19 vaccination appointments at one of the City-operated clinics.

Everyone age 12 years or older is encouraged to book their vaccination appointment as soon as possible by clicking the blue “Book a Vaccine” button at www.toronto.ca/covid-19 or through phone by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900. Anyone who cannot attend a scheduled appointment is urged to cancel or reschedule to allow others to book. Appointments at City-run clinics can be cancelled or changed or by calling the provincial booking line.

The Team Toronto effort is focused on getting as many residents vaccinated as quickly as possible based on available supply. It is also expanding mobile vaccination efforts across Toronto to bring vaccines to the neighbourhoods most in need.
