The Government of Ontario passed legislation that sets out a new 25 ward boundary model for the City of Toronto’s municipal election. The new legislation also extends the nomination period for the offices of Councillor and School Board Trustee, from August 20 until 2 p.m. on September 14, 2018.
During this time period, Councillor and Trustee candidates who filed under the 47-ward model must notify the City Clerk of their new ward by filing a Change of Ward notification form. Those wishing to become a Councillor or Trustee candidate may also file a Nomination Paper during this time. For filing requirements and further information, please visit our Candidate Information pages.
Under the new legislation and regulations, wards have been amended to align with the City’s new 25 ward boundary model and the number of school board trustees remain unchanged. The nomination deadline for trustees is extended from August 20 to 2 pm on September 14, 2018.
