Humber York Community Council (2000-2003)

Community councils were established under the City of Toronto Act, 1997 as committees of City Council. Based on a geographic area of the city, each Community Council considersthe City's business of a local nature at the community level, and providesa forum for local input into Council's decision-making process.Responsibilities include making recommendations to City Council on local planning and development matters, as well as neighbourhood matters including traffic plans, parking regulations,as well asexemptions to certain City by-laws such as sign, fence, ravine and tree by-laws. Starting in July 2001, the South West Community Council was renamed as Humber York Community Council. Starting on December 1, 2003, City Council reduced the number of community councils from six to four, and adopted new community council boundaries.
